Resource hog??? Perhaps you should try USING the program before making blind accusations!
I've used this since Nov and love it! It's lightweight and has no bloat (only using ~18MB of my memory, bloated my ASS).

@Orniting234;
FYI, i HAVE installed it and un-installed it too. so ,i DO know what i am talking about.
kindly try ESET, Kaspersky, Avira or AVG. then maybe you will come to the same conclusion.
the ration of protection viz-a-viz speed is totally skewed for symantec products. . . . so ... RESOURCE HOG !!! (why settle for lower scanning rates from a product which takes considerably more pc power, even when we have 2GB ram or maybe the fastest processor?)
your retort is fundamentally flawed.

Any antivirus software using 18mb of memory is definately a resourse hog, no matter how good it is! Your ass must be huge! lol

i would rather nobody used this program, if a lot do, maybe symantec will clamp down and make registration more difficult, i like it the way it is, so, nobody use this program, it sucks

Thanks for posting. Anyone who thinks 18 MB is high for an antivirus program these days should trade in their MS-DOS machine for something more modern.

I wouldn't exactly call this product a resource hog, especially compared to Norton Antivirus 2007. It is hella faster than that product. However it is still bloatware as it takes about 400+ MB on my PC and the files are spread everywhere.
I use NOD32 which I think is a better product, and can also be deployed in corporate environments.
Anyway I think Symantec have learnt their lesson from ESET, not to make crapware that slows ppls PC's down to unusable state. Competition is good and so is innovation...
I feel the same about Adobe 9 as well, faster start up time, compared to 8, but BLOAT, cmon!
