FlashGet formerly JetCar, displays download progress in ranks of glittering dots, but its acceleration is not as pronounced as most. Its inability to start a download without confirmation makes for slow starts. We ran into difficulty locating configuration settings, a problem aggravated by a help system that apparently belongs to an earlier version. Nonetheless, the software managed and categorized our sample downloads efficiently.

in the description here, it says that the acceleration is not as pronounced as most? so? whats the fastest download manager?, i want to know, cause i always want the fastest : )

I believe the patch is used to tweak FlashGet so you can get the most out of it.

Yep, Flashget IS Free. The Patch does this:

100 parallel downloads
max 30 splits per file

i think flashget is better than idm 5.05 full
i can't download music at www.muzic9.com with idm (mms) but flashget can do it
i use both of them, because
SPEEDDDDDDD : IDM IS THE BEST
