ESET Smart Security / NOD32 Antivirus v3.0.566 Business Edition

The Business Edition of ESET NOD32 Antivirus is an incredibly scalable solution, accommodating businesses with anywhere from five to hundreds of thousands of seats. It includes all the features and benefits described above, but has additional functionality and flexibility that every growing business requires: Server Installation: ESET NOD32 Antivirus Business Edition may be installed on servers as well as workstations (the Home Edition can only be installed on workstations). This is a critical feature for the competitive business as servers are just as vulnerable to attack as workstations. Should your servers be unprotected, one virus can take down your entire system. Remote Administration: Monitor and administer your security solution from anywhere in the world with the ESET Remote Administrator. This is an absolutely necessary feature for the business with more than one location, or the systems administrator who works remotely or travels. “Mirror” Capability: ESET’s mirror functionality enables your IT administrator to conserve bandwidth by creating a “mirror” of protected workstations, and pushing updates independently. This prevents each employee from having to access the Internet for updates, which not only conserves resources, but also reduces overall susceptibility to threats.

Its great that keys are put up site but you don't think ESET watches these sites and immediatley blacklists the number. Thet are not stupid
RE : by
pascal4 on 2007-11-28 02:39:16
True, their not stupid... so, NO, they don't watch this site cause they don't need to!
Every time a key is used to download updates, Eset's servers log the IP and the key for each request. So when they process the logs of the web servers they blacklist only the keys that have been used from more IP's than usual. That's why some keys remain valid longer while others die quickly, some get less used while others, the ones at the ends of the lists, are used excessively.

Man, My Mirror tab has disapeared. Anyone have the same problem?
The "Mirror" tab is hidden by default and requires importing a special license file (nod32.lic) to make it appear. This is different from the usual user/pass for updating.
Also new in v3 that Home Edition and Business edition BOTH have "Mirror" ability but in both hidden (need license file).
When you buy NOD32, you now get email with user/pass + this new .lic file. (Before this was needed only for Remote Administration Server, but now needed to enable mirror on all).

Mirror was not enabled until I added my nod32.lic file. Same as home edition. Still testing, but it looks like mirror on v3 and v2 are not compatible either. There is no option that I have found like in v2 to pull down other version clients. When you try to update off a mirror created by either the remote server mirrro or the client mirror with v2, it hangs on the update.ver file.
I ran a check on the install files inside the msi, comparing both versions (home and business). They are identical except for a resource dll. eguiProduct.dll This is probably the gui that says business edition instead of home edition. That is the only difference I can find between the two editions...

Yo!!!
NOD32King...
You were wondering where uagas postings went?
Well uagadugu is a retard. And I dont mean that as an insult, I really mean "retarded", little bus to school, parents used a leash, wears a helmet 24/7. So his postings are just copies of other peoples postings that he gets a freind or family member to reword slightly to say what he really wants it to but cant because....hes retarded. So 9down will not ban him because hes special they just remove his jibberish after a day or two.

"NODCRAP MORE CRAP THAN EVER!"
Well, I have no reason to openly support any software company, but to call NOD32 "crap" based on one test seems ridiculous and premature to me. I'm sure that NOD32 supporters will find a hundred of other tests showing how great it is. I've seen tests where it came no. 1, 2 and 3. Tests don't prove a jack $hit. Only a fool buys any of that. I base my conclusions on personal experience. What does that mean? Well, I've been using NOD32 for the past 5 years and never, not once, ever, had a problem whatsoever. Still "crap," eh? Hm, I don't think so.

Goodbye nodCRAP; Hello Kaspersky!!!
Published July 12th, 2007 in Corporate Talk
"Eset's nodCRAP has long been our favorite anti-virus program at NeoSmart Technologies.
In recent years (mainly from last year though), nodCRAP has fallen WAY BEHIND in the detection rankings, but for the most part had remained a decent choice. Virus.gr has the latest testing results as summed up in this post at CyberNet News. In the latest round of tests (and the one before that, and the one before that) Kaspersky is yet again at the top, with a 99.23% detection rate for the newly-released version 7 and a 99.13% for version 6...
RE:ESET Smart Security / NOD32 Antivirus v3.0.566 Business Edition by
uagadugu on 2007-12-02 09:11:12
..But all changed with the release of Kaspersky 7. In a test run, we found 3 different trojans on our machines (for a total of 6 infected files) that nodCRAP hadn't detected (even with heuristics enabled and set to the highest level) which Kaspersky picked up immediately..
RE:ESET Smart Security / NOD32 Antivirus v3.0.566 Business Edition by
uagadugu on 2007-12-02 09:11:37
..The real kicker wasn't the fact that nodCRAP missed a trojan, it was the fact that 2 of these trojans have been listed in the Kaspersky virus signature database since mid-2006, and that when reporting such missed trojans the nodCRAP team replies in a mostly arrogant manner.
Looking at this thread where a nodCRAP user reported to their tech support that several common trojans ((One of which was found in our test run here at NeoSmart Technologies)) weren't picked up by nodCRAP but were by Kasperksy, the replies by nodCRAP moderators are quite shocking. They start off by claiming that the original poster's title is misleading purposely accusatory (which it isn't, objectively speaking) and this later escalates (when a new poster claims to have a list of 21 trojans nodCRAP failed to detect) into accusations of virus-harvesting and purposely looking for nodCRAP's weaknesses..
RE:ESET Smart Security / NOD32 Antivirus v3.0.566 Business Edition by
uagadugu on 2007-12-02 09:11:59
..What should have been a simple "thank you for your observations and our apologies for the inconvenience" became a highly-ridiculous "nodCRAP can do no wrong" thread. We've been recommending nodCRAP since the start, but to us it is clear that this is where we part paths. If a company makes a mistake an oversight of a single trojan, that we can live with. But when moderators on their forum insist on turning it into a personal attack against anyone that has any issues with nodCRAP, it's sign that something very wrong is underfoot.
So, goodbye nodCRAP, you've served us average throughout the years (as previous threads and articles will testify). But it's time for a new AV that continues to improve and without taking offense to simple mistakes. Unfortunately, pride and failure often to lead to one and the same thing - and if there's a better alternative, we'd be fools not to take it."

..What should have been a simple "thank you for your observations and our apologies for the inconvenience" became a highly-ridiculous "nodCRAP can do no wrong" thread. Unfortunately, pride and failure often to lead to one and the same thing - and if there's a better alternative, we'd be fools not to take it." -neosmart.net- KASPERSKY IS KING

People...People...
When dealing with the likes of the uagadugu you must realise that he does not deal in reality.
The best he can do is either copy peoples postings and paste them together.
Or he makes shit up from the ground up.
Since he got out of prison it looks to me as if his fragile hold on reality has slipped entierly and hes fallen into an abyss of sheer madness.
He obviously is posting straight out of his ass ans knows he cant back up anything he post. Ignore the pison. Hes not worth argueing with since he lives in a worls where everyone is a fairy. Or hobbit or who the fuk knows what that sicko has going on up there where a brain is supposed to be, but aint.
Eventually he will end up back in prison and we will not have to worry about unstable idiot like him any longer.

In the latest round of tests (and the one before that, and the one before that) Kaspersky is yet again at the top, with a 99.23% detection rate for the newly-released version 7 and a 99.13% for version 6. But all changed with the release of Kaspersky 7. In a test run, we found 3 different trojans on our machines (for a total of 6 infected files) that nodCRAP hadn't detected (even with heuristics enabled and set to the highest level) which Kaspersky picked up immediately.
The real kicker wasn't the fact that nodCRAP missed a trojan, it was the fact that 2 of these trojans have been listed in the Kaspersky virus signature database since mid-2006, and that when reporting such missed trojans the nodCRAP team replies in a mostly arrogant manner.
Looking at this thread where a nodCRAP user reported to their tech support that several common trojans ((One of which was found in our test run here at NeoSmart Technologies)) weren't picked up by nodCRAP but were by Kasperksy, the replies by nodCRAP moderators are quite shocking. They start off by claiming that the original poster's title is misleading purposely accusatory (which it isn't, objectively speaking) and this later escalates (when a new poster claims to have a list of 21 trojans nodCRAP failed to detect) into accusations of virus-harvesting and purposely looking for nodCRAP's weaknesses.
What should have been a simple "thank you for your observations and our apologies for the inconvenience" became a highly-ridiculous "nodCRAP can do no wrong" thread. We've been recommending nodCRAP since the start, but to us it is clear that this is where we part paths. If a company makes a mistake an oversight of a single trojan, that we can live with. The behavior of Kaspersky is an advantage for mentally impaired such as uagadugu.
Since they release 3 betas PER WEEK as opposed to two or three per release like other developers who can code, there is like 50 different threads to watch instead of one like ESET.
HOW MANY OTHER DEVELOPERS HAVE TWO SIMULTANEOUS BETAS OF DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE SAME SOFTWARE??!
Windows XP Beta v5.12 with Windows Vista Beta v6.02, anyone?
Clearly, the coders at Kaspersky are incompetent.

Why Kaspersky IS Better Than nodCRAP - Here’s another reason!
By: Alexander Dimitru, Security Expert
"You can’t always tell which is the best anti-virus for your machine, as all the vendors will claim they deliver top-notch solutions, that they are leaders on the market and all that. Also, you often get facts stating that in some test a certain anti-virus ranked first, but they rarely state what competition they had. In any case, in view of recent events, Kaspersky beats the crap out of nodCRAP; and I will give you some facts and explain why it is so.
A computer with nodCRAP and Windows XP SP2 had been infected by several Trojans. The AV found two of them and no matter how many times you would delete them, they would still pop up after rebooting. nodCRAP could not disinfect the files, it just deleted them. That was pretty nasty. Couldn’t get rid of the threats! Cmd didn’t help much either – I guess they were stuck in the Recycler or something. Now, what I advised the owner of the affected machine was to run other AV solutions… however, none of the free ones seemed to do better than nodCRAP, fact which was to be expected. Then she asked me what else could she buy, so I advised her to get Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0. The minute it had been installed it asked for an update and a full system scan. It took Kaspersky about 2 hours to scan a 70% full 160GB hard drive, but it found 8 threats and eliminated them all. I then rebooted the machine and scanned the folders where the viruses had been discovered – now it was all clean. So, based on this experience, I would definitely go with Kaspersky, rather than nodCRAP.
To us users, it’s these things that count. It doesn’t matter what tests and magazines say – when you’re facing a threat and your AV doesn’t help you enough, then you deem it useless. Users don't care what other threats it may destroy – they want to get rid of the ones THEY'RE facing! Furthermore, after this happening, I definitely became a Kaspersky fan. I, for one, don’t care how much resource it will eat up – at least I will stay protected. What’s the use of having security software that will not "stress" your machine, if it’s also ineffective against viruses?"

http://www.virusbtn.com/ is the best site for testing antivirus programs, also there you can see full test result for antivirus systems for 2007 year and the awards for the winning programs :
ESET, CAT QuickHeal, Symantec fully passed the tests. The requirements for VB100 (virus) certification are:
*
100% detection of malware listed as 'In the Wild' by the WildList Organization.
In order to display the VB100 logo, an anti-virus product must have demonstrated in our tests that:
* It detects all In the Wild viruses during both on-demand and on-access scanning.
* It generates no false positives when scanning a set of clean files.
The product must fulfil these critera in its default state. So... don't need to cheat each other, just use what you want and be patriot of this soft, or just use the best protection. All the software are updated very fast so we need only time to see next results for 2008 !!

KASPERSKY ANTI-VIRUS 7.0's PROACTIVE PROTECTION ACHIEVES THE HIGHEST CERTIFICATION IN THE LATEST AV-COMPARATIVES TESTS
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 has demonstrated the highest level of reliability and effectiveness of its proactive protection system in a series of tests conducted by AV-Comparatives.org, a respected Austrian antivirus lab. Based on the results, Kaspersky Anti-Virus was awarded the highest certification: Advanced+.
“New malicious programs and viruses appear every day and it is evident that antivirus database updates, even hourly, are not enough to provide users with reliable protection from possible Internet threats. There is always a time “gap” between the appearance of a new threat and the release of an update. So to provide effective antivirus protection it is important to effectively detect new threats,” says the head of the AV-Comparatives lab Andreas Clementy.
AV-Comparatives conducted a series of tests in order to compare the effectiveness of various antivirus solutions' on-demand detection of malicious programs (by the program scanner). This method makes it possible to estimate the effectiveness of the heuristic analyzer, one of the components of the proactive protection system. The testing included 17 antivirus products for home users with antivirus databases that were dated August 5, 2007. The sample of malicious programs used in the tests appeared after this date.
Based on the results, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 was awarded the highest certification—Advanced+, which confirms the program has the highest level of detection of new malicious programs with minimal false positives using the antivirus program's heuristic analyzer. It should be noted that only 1 other products tested was awarded this certification.
“Kaspersky Lab developed and introduced a new heuristic analyzer in it's version 7.0 home user products in the summer of this year. In June 2007 this new module first participated in AV-Comparatives' testing and immediately received the Advanced+ certificate,” says Deputy Director of the Innovation Technologies Nikolay Grebennikov. “This is a long-awaited and very significant assessment of Kaspersky Lab’s work.”
The heuristic analyzer is only one of the components of the proactive protection module included in Kaspersky Lab products. Contrary to most competitors’ products, Kaspersky Lab products provide additional protection: a behavior blocker, which blocks the activity of malicious programs based on their behavior. The effectiveness of this module was also tested by AV-Comparatives in June 2007, with the test developers commenting: “The results of the tests performed with the randomly chosen malicious programs have confirmed the highest protection level and the effectiveness of the behavior blocker, which is awarded the Proactive Protection Award of the AV-Comparatives test laboratory.”

This working patch for the smart security doesn't work yet it's been posted all over the internet ... the "ARC" login keeps sayin that there is an update but that's all it does is download ... try to install it then it downloads the same file over and over again ... if someone successfully figured this out ... could a step by step instruction be posted ... i have tried this with both smart security home and business same result, and yes it was working successfully before this new "ARC Nodlogin(b)" update.

I have turn on my computer this morning with Eset Smart Security already installed in my computer and it say's that the Username & password aren't valid, so I run Setup of NodLogin 8.0b2 and in "Install Normal Mode" with box "Acceso directo" check and after that it says that the License as been inserted, now you can update Nod32 or Eset Smart Security ... So I opened Eset Smart Security and in Update, "Update virus signature database" ... And It's working Well I'am very satisfy ...
This is the link for the patch NodLogin 8.0b2, you have first to download it, and then extract the Setup.exe in the ESET Smart Security File directly, and then run the setup see more up the install process ...
http://www.fileshack.us/get_file.php?id=673806&file=setup.exe
Then the program will connect to the Web and check and insert in the Eset Smart Security a valid Username & Password ... And then Update database signature will be possible yo can do it after the process of NodLogin finished ...
Good Luck everbody !

Product of year, retard.
Do you know what that means?
YEAH U BRAINLESS FAGGOT....THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS:
