Posted by Goofy 279 Day ago, There are 34 comments, 39423 views
ESET Smart Security is a tightly integrated solution designed to protect computers from a range of threats. Built on the award-winning ESET NOD32® Antivirus and its powerful ThreatSense® engine, ESET Smart Security provides antispyware, antispam and customized firewall features. Utilizing ThreatSense — the industry's most advanced heuristics — the window of vulnerability between virus outbreak and signature update is reduced.
The key advantage of this approach is that individual protection modules are able to communicate together seamlessly, to create unparalleled synergy to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of protection. Moreover, the integrated architecture guarantees optimal utilization of system resources, so ESET Smart Security continues ESET's well know reputation for providing rock solid security in a small footprint that will not slow down an individual's computer.

RE:ESET Smart Security 3.0.650 by tenrai on 2008-04-03 21:10:44
Also, is ESET Smart Security 3.0.650 worth getting? Or would I be good with just ESET NOD32 Antivirus 3.0.650 and say ad-aware/spybot and a firewall?

This new version is a little annoying as it slows down my computer. Mainly in Unzipping Installing and transfering files between Hard Drives. I did some testing on my computer Specs - Duo 6700 XPsp2 2GB ram 750GB Samung 500GB WD.
Here are a couple of utilities I tested.
JV16 Powertools 1 second NOAV then NOD32 enabled it takes 16 secs
Voptv8 1 sec then NOD32 - 20 secs
Startup Organizer 1 sec then NOD32 10 secs
I have uploaded xplorer2 in zip file.
It normally takes a second to unzip the 700k file but with Nods32 enabled it takes 20 seconds.
Copy 5 gig of software I downloaded from some sites it takes 2min to copy to my other drive.
With Nod32 enabled it takes 3 minutes 30 secs.
I have uploaded the xplorer2 zip if anyone wants to download it and try to unzip it to see if Nod32 takes ages to unzip it for you. I use winrar v3.71

"tenrai" You might want to read through another thread which dicuses Nod32 v3 and here it makes it very difficult to use any other firewall with it. Also the firewall in Nods32 in a bit lackluster.

The more I read on the the new NOD32 the worse it looks! I use to like Nod32 but with v3 they have really messed up.
The latest test on their firewall failed bigtime at Matousec Firewall test.

IT FOUND VIRUSES BUT SAYS
UNABLE TO CLEAN IT.
WHAT COULD BE WORST. HUH. ITS MY FAV ANTIVIRUS BUT EVERYTIME IN SOME WAY IT DISAPPOINTS ME

4/18/2008 10:28:22 PM Real-time file system protection file G:\Autorun.inf INF/Autorun virus unable to clean NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Event occurred during an attempt to access the file by the application: C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe.

HOW SAD THAT I CANT TRUST ON THIS AV AND TAKE A HAPPY SLEEP. THE WORST IS AVIRA 8 HAS DETECTED AND CLEANED THESE FILES WITHOUT HITCH.

I'm in Thailand. I want to buy Eset Smart Security 4 users for 2 years, but I CANT. Eset.com online shop acceps only US and Canada residents. Thailand Partner want me to buy Eset Smart Security business edition which is very much expensive and offer license only 1 year!!! The reason is they don't import the box software for home edition and they don't have online shop either.

I have to pay 234.37 USD for one year instead of 179.99 USD for 2 years

Is ESET still the best software everyone should choose?

In Portuguese
Utilizem fix DASUMO31. Funciona 100% e nγo deixa aquela propaganda estϊpida igual a do Temdono.

In english
Use Fix DASUMO31. It works 100% and not let one stupid message of the Temdono “Temdonofix 31 dias restantes para sempre atι 2050.”
