ESET Smart Security is a fully integrated security solution and includes antivirus, anti-spyware, a personal firewall and antispam. While some competitive solutions purport to have similar functionality, ESET has developed a unique approach that provides true and full integration of point security solutions. The key advantage of this approach is that individual protection modules are able to communicate together seamlessly, to create unparalleled synergy to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of protection. Moreover, the integrated architecture guarantees optimal utilization of system resources, so ESET Smart Security continues ESET's well know reputation for providing rock solid security in a small footprint that will not slow down an individual's computer. ESET Smart Security is a new product designed to provide comprehensive protection against a variety of threats. It features the following: • The next version of ESET's anti-malware engine with comprehensive protection against adware, rootkits, spyware, Trojan horses, viruses, worms and other types of malicious software • A personal firewall with port stealthing and advanced filtering features • An antispam filter with Bayesian filtering, whitelisting and blacklisting. ESET NOD32 Antivirus + Antispyware • This component is in fact an improved version of the award-winning scanning engine of NOD32 Antivirus v2.7. With respect to program's unprecedented scanning speed, the following improvements have been made: • Improved system of cleaning and deleting infiltrations. The antivirus system now intelligently cleans and deletes infiltrations with no need for user interaction. • Computer scan can be run in background in order to use only a part of system resources. Thus scanning will not affect the performance of your computer and you will be able to work on it as usual. • The resident protection supports archive scanning. • Update optimization, smaller update package size than in version 2.7, more effective management and protection of update files against damage. • Email protection for users of Outlook Express. ESET Personal Firewall • Firewall monitors all traffic between a protected computer and other computers in the local network and in the Internet. High quality protection is provided by the following functions: • Scanning of application protocols HTTP and POP3 (used for Internet browsing and for retrieving email from servers) for infiltrations. • Checking low-level network communication which helps to avoid many of various remote attacks. • Ability to recognize the character of network connections established by various types of infiltrations and ability to automatically terminate them. • Filtering of incoming and outgoing communication based on user defined rules. • Monitoring changes in executable files. • Interactive and automatic mode. The former enables you to create your own filtering rules, the latter filters all communication automatically. ESET Anti Spam • ESET Anti Spam serves to filter unsolicited email, which makes your work with email more effective. The key features of the ESET Anti Spam are: • Support for the RCF email format • Supports several scanning techniques including the combination of Bayesian filter, virus signatures and user defined rules. • Supports the creation of Blacklist and Whitelist. • Integration with the Microsoft Outlook messaging and collaboration client. • Ability to control multiple messages simultaneously.

As I said before, Eset is working hard to keep up with Kaspersky, finally ESET has realize that you have to keep working on your products to make them better. You lame Nod32 users take note or give me some nods excuses, I am sure that there are some - I wonder, "Who will be the first?" I won't have to wait long.

I agree with BoleMakaveli concerning McAfee, they are really shi, I don't know if they had a management shakeup or what, McAfee in the early days were good but lately they went down with the ship at sea. I wouldn't use this software on Bin Laden computer and he is my enemy. Damn, I hurt my sides from laughter.

PC Magazine just reviewed the shitty ESS and gave it 3 stars out of 5.
Kaspersky is KING!!
ESS Pros:
Clean, simple user interface. Advanced settings are hidden unless needed. Little impact on performance. Antivirus has won many awards. Antispam doesn?t trash valid bulk e-mail.
ESS Cons:
So-so ability to recognize spyware. Failed to block or remove many spyware samples it detected. Very basic firewall. Too many valid e-mail messages identified as spam.
check it out here:
www pcmag com/article2/0,1759,2214773,00 asp?kc=PCRSS02129TX1K0000530

Now everyone will know how shitty ESS is!
Again,

@PD1447, aka Perfect Dummy:
I said, KASPERSKY IS KING!!!
MachoMan, I notice by your statement that you are new here. People that have been here longer, knows that I am a Kaspersky user. I wouldn't trust any other antivirus program on my computer so long as one of the choices is Kaspersky. However, ESET do make a good antivirus software, (it isn't as good as Kaspersky, but effective), it is a good - second choice. The Russians (Kaspersky) are good in what they do - they have to be because of all of the things they are eager to get into. So tell me, if you were one of them, wouldn't you want to be sure that your computer is well protected before you try to get into someone's stuff - they could have a good virus or trojan to protect their system - just waiting for someone to invade their systems. I know this to be true for some companies (militarly speaking). There is more out there than what the eye can see. Attention Please!!! Again, Kaspersky and ESET, continue to make improvements in their software and that demands respect - or can you do better? If not, would you kindly shut the F**k up.
Dummy, you have nerve to say that ESS is as good as KIS?
Go to the official ESET support forum and see how many users are disappointed.
Compare to the happiness at the Kaspersky.
Kaspersky is KING, you incredible retard.
If you don't understand that which you read, than you are the retard. No where did I say that ESET is as good as Kaspersky, I am a legal register Kaspersky user. If you want to argue about ESET, you need to get to know Pascal, Nod32King and Hw9001, they may disagree with me on which antivirus software is the better one (which I respect), but I think that they would agree, shen I say that you are the retard here. Maybe English isn't your language, that could explain the reason that you fail to understand that which you have read. Advice One, understanding and than commenting.
I just wanted to see if you notice my typeo, it should have been, "when I say that you are the retard here." Be honest, did you notice it?

Goodbye nodCRAP; Hello Kaspersky!!!
Published July 12th, 2007 in Corporate Talk
"Eset's nodCRAP has long been our favorite anti-virus program at NeoSmart Technologies.
In recent years (mainly from last year though), nodCRAP has fallen WAY BEHIND in the detection rankings, but for the most part had remained a decent choice. Virus.gr has the latest testing results as summed up in this post at CyberNet News. In the latest round of tests (and the one before that, and the one before that) Kaspersky is yet again at the top, with a 99.23% detection rate for the newly-released version 7 and a 99.13% for version 6...
RE:ESET Smart Security 3.0.566 by
uagadugu on 2007-12-02 09:13:23
..But all changed with the release of Kaspersky 7. In a test run, we found 3 different trojans on our machines (for a total of 6 infected files) that nodCRAP hadn't detected (even with heuristics enabled and set to the highest level) which Kaspersky picked up immediately..
RE:ESET Smart Security 3.0.566 by
uagadugu on 2007-12-02 09:13:47
..The real kicker wasn't the fact that nodCRAP missed a trojan, it was the fact that 2 of these trojans have been listed in the Kaspersky virus signature database since mid-2006, and that when reporting such missed trojans the nodCRAP team replies in a mostly arrogant manner.
Looking at this thread where a nodCRAP user reported to their tech support that several common trojans ((One of which was found in our test run here at NeoSmart Technologies)) weren't picked up by nodCRAP but were by Kasperksy, the replies by nodCRAP moderators are quite shocking. They start off by claiming that the original poster's title is misleading purposely accusatory (which it isn't, objectively speaking) and this later escalates (when a new poster claims to have a list of 21 trojans nodCRAP failed to detect) into accusations of virus-harvesting and purposely looking for nodCRAP's weaknesses..
RE:ESET Smart Security 3.0.566 by
uagadugu on 2007-12-02 09:14:15
..What should have been a simple "thank you for your observations and our apologies for the inconvenience" became a highly-ridiculous "nodCRAP can do no wrong" thread. We've been recommending nodCRAP since the start, but to us it is clear that this is where we part paths. If a company makes a mistake an oversight of a single trojan, that we can live with. But when moderators on their forum insist on turning it into a personal attack against anyone that has any issues with nodCRAP, it's sign that something very wrong is underfoot.
So, goodbye nodCRAP, you've served us average throughout the years (as previous threads and articles will testify). But it's time for a new AV that continues to improve and without taking offense to simple mistakes. Unfortunately, pride and failure often to lead to one and the same thing - and if there's a better alternative, we'd be fools not to take it."

Why Kaspersky IS Better Than nodCRAP - Here’s another reason!
By: Alexander Dimitru, Security Expert
"You can’t always tell which is the best anti-virus for your machine, as all the vendors will claim they deliver top-notch solutions, that they are leaders on the market and all that. Also, you often get facts stating that in some test a certain anti-virus ranked first, but they rarely state what competition they had. In any case, in view of recent events, Kaspersky beats the crap out of nodCRAP; and I will give you some facts and explain why it is so.
A computer with nodCRAP and Windows XP SP2 had been infected by several Trojans. The AV found two of them and no matter how many times you would delete them, they would still pop up after rebooting. nodCRAP could not disinfect the files, it just deleted them. That was pretty nasty. Couldn’t get rid of the threats! Cmd didn’t help much either – I guess they were stuck in the Recycler or something. Now, what I advised the owner of the affected machine was to run other AV solutions… however, none of the free ones seemed to do better than nodCRAP, fact which was to be expected. Then she asked me what else could she buy, so I advised her to get Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0. The minute it had been installed it asked for an update and a full system scan. It took Kaspersky about 2 hours to scan a 70% full 160GB hard drive, but it found 8 threats and eliminated them all. I then rebooted the machine and scanned the folders where the viruses had been discovered – now it was all clean. So, based on this experience, I would definitely go with Kaspersky, rather than nodCRAP.
To us users, it’s these things that count. It doesn’t matter what tests and magazines say – when you’re facing a threat and your AV doesn’t help you enough, then you deem it useless. Users don't care what other threats it may destroy – they want to get rid of the ones THEY'RE facing! Furthermore, after this happening, I definitely became a Kaspersky fan. I, for one, don’t care how much resource it will eat up – at least I will stay protected. What’s the use of having security software that will not "stress" your machine, if it’s also ineffective against viruses?"

KASPERSKY ANTI-VIRUS 7.0's PROACTIVE PROTECTION ACHIEVES THE HIGHEST CERTIFICATION IN THE LATEST AV-COMPARATIVES TESTS
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 has demonstrated the highest level of reliability and effectiveness of its proactive protection system in a series of tests conducted by AV-Comparatives.org, a respected Austrian antivirus lab. Based on the results, Kaspersky Anti-Virus was awarded the highest certification: Advanced+.
“New malicious programs and viruses appear every day and it is evident that antivirus database updates, even hourly, are not enough to provide users with reliable protection from possible Internet threats. There is always a time “gap” between the appearance of a new threat and the release of an update. So to provide effective antivirus protection it is important to effectively detect new threats,” says the head of the AV-Comparatives lab Andreas Clementy.
AV-Comparatives conducted a series of tests in order to compare the effectiveness of various antivirus solutions' on-demand detection of malicious programs (by the program scanner). This method makes it possible to estimate the effectiveness of the heuristic analyzer, one of the components of the proactive protection system. The testing included 17 antivirus products for home users with antivirus databases that were dated August 5, 2007. The sample of malicious programs used in the tests appeared after this date.
Based on the results, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 was awarded the highest certification—Advanced+, which confirms the program has the highest level of detection of new malicious programs with minimal false positives using the antivirus program's heuristic analyzer. It should be noted that only 1 other products tested was awarded this certification.
“Kaspersky Lab developed and introduced a new heuristic analyzer in it's version 7.0 home user products in the summer of this year. In June 2007 this new module first participated in AV-Comparatives' testing and immediately received the Advanced+ certificate,” says Deputy Director of the Innovation Technologies Nikolay Grebennikov. “This is a long-awaited and very significant assessment of Kaspersky Lab’s work.”
The heuristic analyzer is only one of the components of the proactive protection module included in Kaspersky Lab products. Contrary to most competitors’ products, Kaspersky Lab products provide additional protection: a behavior blocker, which blocks the activity of malicious programs based on their behavior. The effectiveness of this module was also tested by AV-Comparatives in June 2007, with the test developers commenting: “The results of the tests performed with the randomly chosen malicious programs have confirmed the highest protection level and the effectiveness of the behavior blocker, which is awarded the Proactive Protection Award of the AV-Comparatives test laboratory.”

Can someone please ban that idiot off this site once and for all?! I'm getting tired of that complete nonsense that piece of $hit is posting. All off topic idiocy should be deleted right away.
Now to topic:
First of all, the crack "nodlogin 8.0a" and possibly "b" are both complete crap. Not only did 8.0a seriously fragment the hard drive, but it didn't even start up properly and the computer froze and I had to click on an Ok-button in order to enter Windows. Second of all, the latest usernames/passwords don't work at all as of Dec 17th. I tried every single one. Third of all, even if they DO work, it won't last for one than say 24 hours before you have to change again. That keeps repeating itself over and over. I'm considering going back to 2.70.39 and get those 16+ million "free" update days rather than screwing around with this annoyance.

On left hand side click comparatives
Scroll down to latest reports:-
15. On-demand comparative August 2007 Online results / Report
Kaspersky has better on-demand detection than Nod32 by 0.86%. Big whoop!
And
16. Retrospective/ProActive Test November 2007 Online results / Report
Nod32 has better pro-active detection than kaspersky by 31%! May i add with no false positives and a fast on-demand scanning rate.
Where as kaspersky has few false positives and a slow on-demand scanning rate.
However both are still very good AV products being the only two reaching advanced+ certification in this category.

German magazine PC Praxis has announced Kaspersky Internet Security “Product of the Year”
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that the readers of the German magazine PC Praxis have named Kaspersky Internet Security “The Product of the Year” under the category of “IT security”
More than 35 thousand PC Praxis readers participated in the open voting. It should be noted that this year Kaspersky Internet Security, a solution that provides integrated protection for PCs, has bypassed its main competitors on the German market - Symantec and McAfee solutions.
“For us the awards following the results of the readers’ voting is the best response from the users”, says Andreas Lamm, Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab in Germany. “In that way we learn that the users are really satisfied with our products. Of course we are striving for leadership on consumer market and it is only possible if the clients highly appreciate Kaspersky Lab products”
Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 is an antivirus software that protects PCs from viruses and other types of malicious programs, hacker attacks and spam. The solution provides users with convenient and secure operations when connected to the Internet.
PC Praxis is an authoritative German weekly magazine for advanced users and IT professionals. And has a circulation of about 150 thousand.
